3/22/2009
Is your
plastic broom dirty? Your kitchen broom can sparkle like new if you learn how to clean it the right way. Cleaning a broom can be easy. Learn how to clean your broom today.
Step 1: Use your hand to remove any large pieces of debris that are blocking the bristles on your plastic broom.
Step 2: Vacuum the
plastic broom to remove any fuzz, hair or dust that might be clinging to the bristles.
Step 3: Rinse the broom in warm water for up to two minutes, until all solid impurities have been whisked away. If this is a kitchen broom, it might take a little longer.
Step 4: Soak the broom in a mixture of one part dish soap, one part bleach and three parts warm water for up to 15 minutes. A kitchen broom can get soiled from sticky things like jelly, cooking oil or other food products and a dish-soap soak can help remove them.
Step 5: Rinse the dish soap thoroughly until there are no more bubbles.
Step 6: Soak your plastic broom in a solution of 1 part bleach and three parts warm water for up to 30 minutes. The bleach will kill germs and odors that can cause illness.
Step 7: Hang your broom outside to dry thoroughly.
